The Regional and Urban Development of Sui and Tang Dynasties Period

Abstract: The city is the product of regional development, urban development is inseparable from the environment provided by the various favorable conditions. It is a complex dynamic phenomenon, but from a regional perspective, it is only a “point”, has its own impacted regions (or distribution hinterland areas). In the Sui and Tang Dynasties period, land transport, the Grand Canal and overseas trade routes is improving and developing, the central city and important port along which are becoming a focal point or core in their impacted regions, and the interaction between the central city and hinterland is strong, which leads the prosperity and development of the whole region.
